There have been other books by this author that I read thanks to a friend's recommendation (borrowed books are always the best ones, right? But I did like the parallels between Lydia’s two worlds and how her subconscious planted clues for her as well as indulged in her need to escape and live out a fantasy. She struggles with her grief until she accidentally discovers a way to visit a parallel life, where Freddie is alive, and they are still together. While her beloved fiancé Freddie is deceased, I’m not sure that it helped the story to keep Freddie alive even if it was in her dreams because he’s gone. I loved One Day in December, however, this one in contrast did not have the angst or dialogue or pace to compare. Does this book contain inappropriate content? This book was as emotional and as beautifully written as One Day in December. And there were a lot of sections which were just too sickeningly perfect to be true - real life doesn't happen that way (like when Lydia arrived in Croatia and what happened there).
I didn’t want this book to end! I wish there were more happy parts or at least an epilogue as to what happens a few years or even months down the road.
