In 1933 Saguaro National Monument was created. There are several trailheads with parking off the Loop Drive. Tucson , AZ Bicycling is not permitted on any trails, except the 0.5 mile (0.8 km) Belmont Multi-use trail. Most of the parks picnic areas (which have waterless toilets, grills, picnic tables and trash cans) are accessible from these two scenic drives.

Driving - Trailers longer than 35 feet or any vehicle wider than 8 feet are not permitted on the winding Cactus Forest Drive (East side).

Trail riding is also permitted on the shared-use 2.5 mile Hope Camp Trail, located off of Camino Loma Alta at the south boundary of Saguaro East.
