Geography Location. It wasn’t until 1886 that the town was officially named Luckenbach. Luckenbach is an Ortsgemeinde – a community belonging to a Verbandsgemeinde – in the Westerwaldkreis in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The community of Luckenbach is located on Grape Creek, which is a tributary of the Pedernales River. On December 15, 1847, a petition was submitted to create Gillespie County. South of the community runs Bundesstraße 414, leading from Hohenroth to Hachenburg. The nearest Autobahn interchanges are in Siegen, Wilnsdorf and Herborn on the A 45 (Dortmund–Gießen), some 25 km away.
