In spite of that, this book was a refreshing change, as perhaps for the first time, we get to see the personal, empathetic side of the man, who is exceptionally rational most of the time.

This is a wonderful book which is a collection of letters and emails Tyson has received over many years of being active as a science communicator. Tyson’s 2017 best-seller Astrophysics for People in a Hurry offered more than one million readers an insightful and accessible understanding of the universe.

In this, his most personal book by far, he covers everything from God to the history of science, from aliens to death.

Actually, underwhelming in parts. The only thing to fear is loss of ambition. This book is a compilation of letters that the author received from strangers as well as letters he wrote to everyone and as opinion pieces. I am the opposite, but that's why I'm reading books like this. It never occurred to me that he would receive such voluminous correspondence, and much of it not at all related to his specialty--astrophysics. Not to say it's not insightful, there are some touching and interesting views and stories laid out here, but don't get it twisted, if you want SCIENCE, their are better books by the same author. Readers may suspect that most of these letters date from the author's earlier years when, a newly minted celebrity, he still thrilled that many of his audience were pouring out their hearts.

I bought this for my husband who has the authors there books and he said this one was terrible.

The result is an awe-inspiring listen and an intimate portal into an incredible mind, which reveals the power of the universe to start conversations and inspire curiosity in all of us.

If you expect it to be something big and be able to gain much knowledge about astrophysics, or, the universe, the galaxy... from it, you will be quite disappointed. Space and time form the very fabric of the cosmos.

A Brief History of Time is Hawking's classic introduction to today's most important scientific ideas. It's more of a biography of sorts, Dr Tyson defending or explaining his views in short notes, never going into much detail on anything.

He responds to the fans, the curious, the religious, and atheists in equal measure, and gives well thought out answers, all the while using (if not outright defending) the scientific method as a tool to better understand the world around us. My opinion on that, of course, is mostly irrelevant, but it did lessen my enjoyment of the book. In this hand-picked collection of 101 letters, Tyson draws upon cosmic perspectives to address a vast array of questions about science, faith, philosophy, life, and of course, Pluto. The most important thing that I learned from this book is that an objective reality is true irrespective of one's personal opinion or belief.

There were some interesting tidbits of wisdom and new ways of looking at our world spread throughout the pages, though (for me) there were just as ma. I bought this book for a gift so I can't rate it but based on his other books I would give it 5 stars.

Not really sure how to rate this one but I enjoyed reading his take on things, him standing up for himself and some of his mindblowing revelations.

Made me want to read his other books. But they are all searching for understanding, meaning and truth. Everything All at Once is an exciting, inspiring call to unleash the power of the nerd mindset that exists within us all. One note of caution, however. Courtney B. Vance,

Here he responds to a bunch of letters, emails, and other communications he's received over the years, touching on many topics, from hopeful young people asking him for advice in pursuing the sciences to enthusiastic believers in crank notions like perpetual motion to doubters like climate change denialists to the outright hostilities of creationists. I think Neil Degrasse Tyson did a fabulous job of collecting all these letters.
