For example: the Outlaws 1976 live album, Bring it Back Alive, which best represents the band in their hey day and at their peak, features Hughie and Billy. ?I seen the Outlaws were playing the Starlite Theater in K>C>MO.recently with Molley Hachet and Lynyrd Skynyrd.I thought real hard about going. They didn;t ditch us and were polite and humble and entertained us for a spell.

Their 1975 debut album, The Outlaws, quickly sold gold, and they were signed as the opening act on the Doobie Brothers' Stampede tour. When I recently stumbled onto this venue in K.C.MO.it sparked my curiosity as to who was fronting the Outlaws if Hughie was playing with L.Skynyrdand also wondering what the line-up might be with the Outlaws?
One night while briefly home I caught Cross Roads on CMT and Lynyrd Skynyrd was performing.
You cannot paste images directly. It’s not unusual for someone to ask me if I was at this show or that show, or what was the date the Outlaws played Denver in 1975. However what I remember the most was Bad CO.dening the Outlaws and encore appearance which the crowd was basically demanding and did not get.
If I had any idea back then that there would still be such interest in these photos thirty years later, I would have done a better job cataloging and notating.
I also listened to sound tracks on Amazon and they had a very interesting style. Henry Paul is really just a side note to the band.
Hughie Thomasson went out to dinner with his wife Mary on Sunday (Sept. 9), went home, got comfortable in his favorite chair to watch football and then passed away from a heart attack during a nap. The band went on to record 13 albums in all, with such hits as "Green Grass and High Tides" and "Hurry Sundown," both of which Thomasson wrote. Around that time, I sent Tom Giacinto some images to display on his old Outlaws tribute page, but I don’t think this was one of them.

I was wondering, as well, if it would be possible to obtain a copy of this great photo. They played every tune I wanted to hear as well as a few tracks from their recent at the time Ghost Riders Album had one of the best times at a show I ever have had! Foghat did deliver on that night were pretty dam good.

Only concert I ever attended to this day out of many hundred and seen this sort of occurrance.I was amazed at the perfection and dynamics of the Outlaws. I will never reduplicate them and that I promise you> I will look forward to your reply. The group disbanded, but Thomasson reformed the Outlaws in 1972 with guitarist Henry Paul, drummer Monte Yoho and bassist Frank O'Keefe. "Hughie was special to everyone he met, and his death in 2007 was tough on a lot of people -- family, friends and the fans," states Thomasson's daughter, Constance Cowez, in a news release. He was 55 and lived in Brooksville, Fla., near Tampa. I find he also has passed in 2007.
He was also a replacement guitarist for Lynyrd Skynyrd. To my amazement when the main lobby elevator doors opened there they all were; Billy Jones and Hughie Thomasson right directly in front of my wife and I. I cried when my mother passed away in 1995, when my friend Country Dick Montana (of The Beat Farmers) passed away in 1996, and now, as I look at this wonderful photo of Billy and Huey, tears are streaming down my face….shit….Thanks for sharing such a great photo. He joined the Outlaws when it was still a struggling local band. I'd never heard of Hughie Thomasson or the Outlaws and so I looked him and the band up.
As recent as MARCH, NOVEMBER OF 2009 AND FEBRUARY OF 2010: and once in 2000 and then again in 2004 I have had back and neck spine surgeries.I have hauled U.S. mail since 2005 up till my neck surgery last March 2009 in a tractor trailer truck. He was 55 years old. Been a big fan of the Outlaws and your pics of them since 1977! The band found success in the late 1970s and early 1980s with a string of hits. The Outlaws disbanded in the mid-'90s when Thomasson joined Lynyrd Skynyrd.
